How to Update Edge Browser to Work with Omega

Settings to have Edge work with Omega #

Update: This tutorial was made for Windows 11, but it will also work on Windows 10

Windows 11 will not have Internet Explorer so we need to apply this workaround to have Edge work with Omegaemr website.

  • First we need to make sure the computer is indeed running Windows 11. If your Taskbar looks similar to the screenshot below, you’re running Windows 11. If not, then you’re probably still on Windows 10. Windows 7 won’t have Edge so we won’t worry about it.
  • When you are certain you’re running Windows 11, open Microsoft Edge and click on the 3 dots in the top-upper right and select Settings.
  • On the left column, select Default Browser and make sure all settings match the screenshot below. You will then click on the Add button as highlighted.
  • Add the appropriate website
  • Add the following:
  • For facilities/nursing homes, use — https://www.omegaemr.com/login
  • For pharmacies, use — https://www.omegaemr.com/rxq
  • When done adding, close Edge. You will not be able to use any old shortcuts you may have of Omega login so go ahead and delete them now. We will create a new shortcut on the next step.

Create a shortcut on the desktop:

  • Right-click on an empty space on the  desktop(wallpaper), select “New” then “Shortcut”
  • Enter the appropriate address
  • For nursing homes, use — https://www.omegaemr.com/login
  • For pharmacies, use — https://www.omegaemr.com/rxq
  • (The screenshot below is an example only. Whatever website you added in from the steps above, you must make sure to use that address in this step as well)
  • Click Next, name your shortcut then click Finish
